Risk Reduction

Social Media

Below are a series of social media messaging posters developed in the run-up to Wildfire Preparedness Day in Logan County, Ohio (2016 and 2017). Messages focus on items from NFPA 1141, 1142 and 1144, as well as general rural fire safety topics. These were all developed by me in my capacity as a member of Bellefontaine Fire & EMS. All photos are originals, taken by me (except the “alarms” poster, which uses public domain imagery from FEMA and NWS).

Emergency Services Access Themes

From NFPA 1141 Standard for Fire Protection Infrastructure for Land Development in Wildland, Rural, and Suburban Areas

The address signage poster proved to be very popular, and appeared on a large number of fire and law enforcement Facebook pages, in all cases with the Ohio FireWise and Bellefontaine Fire & EMS logos cropped off and no credit given to me or the department.

Rural Water Supply Themes

From NFPA 1142 Standard on Water Supplies for Suburban and Rural Fire Fighting

Home Ignition Zone (HIZ) Themes

From NFPA 1144 Standard for Reducing Structure Ignition Hazards from Wildland Fire

General Rural Fire Safety Awareness, Prevention & Preparedness Themes

Based on local issues and experience, not specifically tied to any NFPA standard.
